This beautiful small town is exactly the place where, according to legend, the Czech Prince Oldřich rested by a small spring, tired after a long hunt, where he saw a well shaped country woman washing clothes (in Old Czech the word for washing in the required grammatical form was perúc, therefore the name of the village was until then called Opučná). What follows has been described in many books and those of you who enjoy a bit of historical romance might have read it. The places to visit: Boženina Spring, Oldřichův oak, Thunn - Hohenstein Chateau and its beautiful gardens, Krásná vyhlídka observation point, Saints Peter and Paul Church (built by Peter Pavel Columbani); near the village of Telce you will find the biggest Celtic menhir in the country, called Stone Man or Shepherd or Herdsman.
Our forefather Čech passed this area when walking to the legendary mountain of Říp.
