The starting point is the village of Kostomlaty pod Milešovkou, which is located under the ruins of the Kostomlaty castle visible from a distance. We may park in the centre of the village and the set off towards the village of Milešov. Before we leave Kostomlaty, we may take a look at the originally Romanesque church of St. Lawrence and behind it we may see the early Baroque castle, unfortunately closed to the public. Our trip begins with a steep climb /3/ taking us above the village. Behind the village at the crossroad sign we take the road towards "Milešov“ (5 km.) We keep climbing up for additional 3 km, but our climb is now more relaxed /2/. Before we enter the woods we will get a chance to enjoy the beautiful view of the Kostomlaty castle (we can get to the castle following the green KČT sign, which turns away from the road. The tour of the castle is well worth it) and on the opposite side we will see the town of Teplice and the long ridge of Krušné mountains.
The last 2 km to Milešov we go down around the foothills of the highest mountain of the Czech Central Mountains - the Milešovka mountain (836 m), which can easily be recognized by the viewing tower on the top. In Milešov we will find a Renaissance castle built on basalt rock (now a retirement home for the elderly), at the location of a former Gothic castle. Before we reach the castle we take a right turn towards "Vlastislav“. As it is typical for this hilly region, virtually every journey consists of half climbs and half downhill rides, and our road to Vlastislav is no exception. On the other hand, with each passing kilometre we will discover more breathtaking sceneries with dead volcanoes, often accompanied by ruins of a castle at the top. InVlastislav we may examine one of them. It is easily accessible directly from the village. Then we continue on a road towards "Podsedice“ (3 km). Right before Podsedice we will reach a junction with a busy vehicle traffic going from Lovosice to Louny. Here, we turn right and follow for 500 m. Then we leave this road and join a side road and take the right direction towards the village Děkovka. Here we must undergo the most difficult climb of our tour /3/, and reach a high saddle situated between two volcanic peaks Hrádek and Plešivec. When we reach Děkovka, we will still be climbing but on a less steeper hill /2/ until we reach the crossroad in the village of Skalice (additional 3 km). Behind Děkovka we take less than 1 km long walk and see the ruins of the Hrádek castle which was built on a distinctive basalt rock. From here we will enjoy a large panoramic view of the Czech Central Mountains. On a T-shaped crossroad above the village ofSkalice we take a right turn towards "Štěpánov“ (4 km). On our way to Štěpánov we will finally get a chance to enjoy a downhill ride. At the beginning of the village we will find a crossroad sign and take the yellow sign, direction towards "Kostomlaty“ (3.5 km). The first 500 m we will be climbing steeply /3/ until we reach the end of the village, where we turn left onto a field road. Towards the end of our trip we begin to go down slightly on a furrowed trail until we reach Kostomlaty pod Milešovkou. Total length 28.5 km.
