Sutom – 2 km Boreč - 1,5 km Režný újezd - 1 km Bílinka - 2 km (!!highway construction!!) Opárno – 4 km Malé Žernoseky - 1 km ferry Velké Žernoseky – 3 km Radobýl - quarry below Radobýl – 2 km lake Žalhostice – TRAIN – Lovosice + BUS to Sutom or to Třebenice and a walk from Třebenice 4 km. Difficulty: small - circle 17 km + train ride + train to bus transfer in Lovosice.

You will begin your trip at the guesthouse of St. Peter and Paul in Sutomi by taking the road and following it to the right out of the village of Sutom - 2 km towards Boreč (village and hill, which is a National monument: ventaroly - visible during winter) and educational trail Boreč (if you decide to extend your trip by taking this path and climbing up to the hill - to the left of the village - you will add 2 km to your trip - or you may just walk through the village Boreč to see the Renaissance chateau in private ownership. )

1 km Režný újezd follow the yellow sign - 1 km - Bílinka - here we cross the busy road E 55 - and continue on bike trail No. 25 - 2 km to Opárno – village. Then we go around the Opárno castle and continue for 4 km through the Opárenské valley all the way to Malé Žernoseky – 4 km (we will reach the bus terminal station operating between Lovosice and Litoměřice).

We leave Malé Žernoseky and continue towards the ferry stop over the Elbe river 1 km - across a very busy road from Lovosice to Ústí – cross the road and continue through the fields towards a distinctive cottage near the ferry stop (May through September: 7:00 - 19:00. October through April: 7:00 - 17:00 every 30 minutes).

Velké Žernoseky – wine making village. The name Zernosech (Sernossiceh terra rusticalis) is first mentioned in the foundation document of the Litoměřice kapitula (chapter) in 1057. The name of the village was derived from the type of work the locat people did - cutting large local millstones (žernovy) Around 1143, the King Vladislav II invited several tens of monks here from the Steinfeld monastery above Rhine. Three of the best Žernoseky vineyards are located just over the river towards the Czech gate. They are Mariánská stráň (hillside), Malá Vendule and Velká Vendule (Small and Big Vendula).

You may swim or enjoy various water sports in the Žernosecké lake. In the Žernosecké vineyard you may examine historical marl cellars and taste excellent local wines. Our road will take us to a marked road and uphill through vineyards all the way to Radobýl - originally Radobejl. Its typical shape resembles regular cane - it is not particularly high. From its top we may see the valley of the Elbe river, panorama of the Czech Central Mountains and the Říp mountain. In the former and partially excavated quarry we can see the difference in the basalt.

From the top we will follow the yellow sign down to the mine. We are approaching the village of Žalhostice located at the shore of the lake. To go back across the river you must take the train back to Lovosice. Taking train has its advantage as the train goes all the way to the Lovosice main station where within a few minutes you can reach the bus station and from station 5 or 4 you may take a bus to Milešov directly to Sutom stop located near a rectory.

If you cannot catch the bus from Milešovice then select bus to Třebenice - city and from here you will follow the green sign on a pleasant road going through gardens and forest across the right hillside of Košťálov - if you see the hill from the station - 4 km towards Sutom. From the Koštálovo saddle follow the yellow sign. The last 500 m you will walk on a forest road only - to the centre of the village of Sutom (towards the cross) – you will find the guesthouse of St. Peter and Paul (mobile phone 606 545 553) above the village near the church.
