The municipal theatre in Varnsdorf started its activity when a professional theatre ensemble from Nový Bor was moved to Varnsdorf in 1952.

Nowadays, the Varnsdorf theatre is the only stone building theatre in the whole region of Šluknov. The theatre serves people living in the area from Chřibské to Jiříkov, Rumburk, Krásnou Lípu, Šluknov all the way to Dolní Poustevna. On theatre nights a special bus is dispatched to collect peole from the above catchment area. The theatre offers a wide range of theatrical plays, musical and entertaining events, plays for children, educational events and organises various other activities and events for children and adults.
