Klášterec nad Ohří Castle stands on the bank of the Ohře River, in the valley between Doupov and the Ore Mountains. A fortress belonging to the house of Fictum was built here in 1514, and was reconstructed before 1590 into a Renaissance castle. It was rebuilt under the house of Thun into a Baroque shape and four-wing layout in the 17th century. 100 years later the castle was remodelled into the present Neo-Gothic shape. The four-wing castle is a dominant feature of the town of Klášterec nad Ohří, which was awarded the title Historical in 1998. The castle is home to the Museum of Czech Porcelain and permanent exhibition of European and Oriental porcelain, and minerals from the surrounding deposits. You can visit the Fairytale Land in the castle basement, with characters created by Vítězslava Klimtová and Kopecký family marionettes. A 10-hectare English park surrounds the castle with 220 dendrology treasures. The one-storey building opposite is a Baroque villa sala terrena from the late 17th century, with statues by Jan Brokoff.
